ACM Awards, eh
The Academy of Country Music Awards were last night and although the awards ceremony itself was entertaining, the red carpet was boring at best.
Harsh words, I know. But we’ll start with the good and then we’ll get to the bad.
First thing’s first…Miranda Lambert. I mean, not only did she sweep up multiple awards, she owned the red carpet. She looked very well put together while staying classy and fashion forward.
Reese Witherspoon also walked the red carpet, shimmering and radiant. It’s rare that she doesn’t look absolutely perfect.
The incredibly talented Kimberly Perry, from The Band Perry, stood out from the crowd in the best way possible.
The young Danielle Bradbery kept it perfectly age appropriate but no less stunning, easily landing on the best dressed list.
If any non-country artist/musician or actor could land on this best dress list, it’d be Kira Kazantsev. The current Miss America looks classically beautiful in this sheer, floor-length gown.
Korie and Willie Robertson, and Willie’s beard, all made an appearance on the red carpet and while I think that Willie’s guest could use some beard oil, his life-partner Korie is absolutely perfect.
Then, amongst some underwhelming dresses and suits that could easily be shrugged off with an ‘eh’, there’s the ‘what is THAT’.
As much as I love the Spears family, I really believe with my whole heart that Jamie Lynn could and has done better than the black lace doilies used to make her dress.
I like pink as much as the next person and whole heartedly believe in red carpet statements but…Kimberly Schlapman…why?
Anyone who knows me knows how much I adore Hillary Scott and her voice but her red carpet look at the ACM Awards…not so much.
I also understand wanting to wear an Oscar de la Renta, pay your respects and such by wearing one of his creations but Mickey dear, it wasn’t meant to be. Although the silhouette is stunning, everything else is not (except Mickey Guyton’s glowing skin).
It saddens me to say that overall it was an underwhelming red carpet, which is easily the most exciting part of any awards ceremony for us fashionistas.
There’s always next year.
